Who We’ve Trained

2002-2005-  McFarlane’s Multifamily Psychoeducation Group Initiative

This inititative consisted of 34 agencies throughout New York State with half of them organized into Learning Collaboratives. The Family Institute taught this evidence based practice model of multifamily group, provided technical assistance and on-site supervision supporting agencies with setting up, recruiting for and maintaining the groups within their agencies.

2005-2008-  Spectrum of Family Services Initiative Learning Collaborative

Out of the 2003-05 initiative, the Spectrum of Family Services Initiative was born. Approximately 50 licensed mental health agencies in New York State applied to the Family Institute to learn how to conduct consumer friendly consultation services, technical assistance, problem solving and implementing 1-2 additional family services from a menu of options.

2009- Veterans Administration

The Family Institute provided training to the Veterans Administration in Long Beach, California on the Consumer Centered Family Consultation model. In addition to the trainings, the Family Institute continues to provide an array of support and resources to enhance the quality, availability and accessibility of family oriented services.

2009-present-  Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACT)

The Family Institute continues to provide training in Consumer Centered Family Consultation (CCFC) to the New York State ACT teams that request this particular training. The on-site training sessions consist of multi-disciplinary teams and are followed up with two- one hour phone calls. In addition to the trainings, the Family Institute continues to provide a range of support and resources to enhance the quality, availability and accessibility of family oriented services.

2010-2011-  Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) Teams

The Family Institute will begin a training initiative with the New York State PROS teams in Consumer Centered Family Consultation as well as additional programs on the Spectrum of Family Services Treatment and Community Options menu in the fall of 2010. In addition to the training, the Family Institute will provide a range of supports and resources to enhance the quality, availability and accessibility of family oriented services to the PROS Programs.

2012-2013- Learning Community

The Learning Community is a network of providers who will work in partnership to plan, implement and evaluate approaches to involve family members in a way that supports the consumer’s service plan and recovery. The format is set up in a way so that agencies can choose from a menu of Family Services Treatment Options that will help work with your client’s individual needs in relation to family involvement. The Family Institute will oversee the community and provide training, technical assistance with implementation of family-based practices and additional resources support.
